Quote it Sat #6: Ballads of Suburbia

This is a weekly meme in which you can quote from anything really. Favorite books, people, just anything that you like! Anyway this week's quote is from... Ballads of Suburbia by Stephanie Kuehnert.

There are so many ballads about divorce. Achy-breaky country songs about
the cheaters. Mournful pop songs about the heartbroken. Then there’s the rare
punk song that tells it from the view of the kids. Feelings aren’t laid bare in
those particular ballads. There’s no crying and moaning. Divorce is shrugged off
like it’s no big deal, just a messy par of so many kids’ life stories
page 100.

As soon as I read this, I immediately thought of that Blink 182 song called Stay Together For the Kids. It's a tough reality when parents break up and ultimately the kids suffer one way or another. Anyway guys, what about you? What are you quoting this sat? Oh yeah just to remind everyone After by Amy Efaw giveaway ends tonight! Link up above below the banner.

As always,
That Chick That Reads

  2. great quote.

I've heard that the lifestyle of the female/kids half of the couple is hit hardest after a divorce but I wonder if staying together for for the kids can be the wrong thing to do? No personal experience so I could be wrong
